Re: California Contractor pay? 1099 or employee?

I have worked as a "independent contractor" for several companies in california, there are several that are still classifying their subs as 1099, vvd, pcc, to name a few. is it illegal, probably but the mso down here knows what the dilly is. imo its way better to be 1099, i got screwed many a time as a w2 employee/sub and the state didnt do shit, at least as a 1099 you can write all that off at the end of the year
