I am sure you have the skill and experience to be a great employee...however....
The world is full of qualified people...unemployed, qualified people. So pretend you are a manager looking at many applications. Who do you hire? The police background check will make the pile much smaller and eliminate the guess work about danger to customers and other employees.
Best step is to get the felonies expunged.
Likewise, the drug thing and booze. Nobody should be able to tell you what you can and can't put in your body. But they can test for it and exclude you from working around customers and other employees.
Best step is to plan your life so you don't have to take drug tests shortly after taking drugs.
Free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it and this is free. When I got my driver's license Kennedy was president and you could toke and drive with a fifth of Jack under your seat. Them days are gone.
