Del.icio.usFacebookDiggRedditNewsvineBuzz up!TwitterA sex offender with three outstanding warrants was arrested Thursday in Pensacola by members of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The task force’s Pensacola division — along with Escambia and Santa Rosa county deputies — arrested Teddie Lee Carroll, 44, about 6:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of East Maxwell Street.

Carroll was wanted by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office for violating his probation by failing to register as a sex offender. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office also was looking for Carroll in connection with similar charges of violating probation, a U.S. Marshals news release said.

Additionally, Carroll was wanted by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office on charges of failure to appear in court in connection with a 2005 incident.

Carroll was convicted in 2000 in central Florida for kidnapping, impersonating a police officer and lewd and lascivious assault on a minor, the release said.

The Pensacola task force was contacted by officers in Orlando after they learned Carroll might be in the Panhandle. Weeks of surveillance led law enforcement on Thursday to Carroll’s residence on Maxwell Street.

Concerned about Carroll’s safety, officers forced open the door after they saw a man inside swallow something from a pill bottle. He then chased it with an unknown liquid.

Carroll was detained and taken to Baptist Hospital after officers learned he swallowed rat poison. An interview with Carroll at the hospital revealed he washed down the handful of rat poison with a mixture of vodka and iced tea.

Carroll was examined at the hospital and released to law enforcement, who booked him into the Escambia County Jail, the release said.

He is being held at the jail without bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today, jail officials said.

I do not often applaud the Escambia County Sheriffs Office ( Pensacola Fl.) but in conjunction with the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force them boys deserve a pat on the back at least.
