CATV hubs use something called a slingbox to check thier channels instead of rolling a tech, it works thru your home network and can be accessed via pc,

Consider this, I am at a hotel in Vegas, watching my home satellite in Boston via internet. Cost is nothing monthly and the box is under 200 clams. Is this what you were after?
