Anyhow, he doesnt have to check with a lawyer, just call the local PD and ask the legal question. AS I said, in VA it is a civil matter NOT criminal if you do not return the items and the cops will tell you that if you ask. When you freely give something to somebody it is not theft. Besides, there is technically no value to them, they are given away to customers for free right? Be smarter than them. Just check with the local authorities and ask them the question. In fact, put it as if you gave the EQ to a tech and want it back, ask them if you can have the guy arrested for theft and see what they tell you. Alot of companies will threaten you and coerce you into giving it back. You have to pick your battles.
