You right these level were used in Jerrold equipment in those day. The head end signal were ajusted un certain level from channel 2 to 6 and a different level from 7 to 13 After adjusting the headend level it look like a step flat level from 2 to 6 and flat level with a different level (higher level) from 7 to 13.
For now adjust all level flat at the headend and do the amplifier with a slope like today amp.
Carefull if I remember right the trunk level eas flat in those day 32 dBmV at ch:2 and 32 dBmV at CH:13
I have done return lining-up but I was using a 30 dB multitap after each amplifier.
Your 4 dB slope for 330 Mhz is OK 42/50 is a bit high for bridger level, these bridger had a losy output capability, specialy when lodded with 40 channels.
