Re: grounding


I don't know who brought it up but water used to be acceptable generally speaking and in a few cases it still is acceptable...However certain requirements must be met first...The pipe itself must be metallic and go into the ground I think it is a minimum of 5'...However in todays society where the PVC is used more often than not water is not the preferred method any longer...Even in older parts of town much of the network has been replaced with nonmetallic pipes so other means of grounding should be explored before using water...

And since I have seen it all too often I feel it is a must for me to also say that even if NATURAL GAS lines are metallic DO NOT USE THEM FOR GROUNDING for rather obvious reasons...I have seen homes blown up because of stupid things like that...
