There is no reason to use solid.  Let some crack heads hear about this one and they will start ripping it off houses.  The losses are too close to almost not even know unless you metered it.  If its that big of a deal, a larger wire would be used that cost less and has less loss.  Trust me, I know this stuff.  Next they'll want you to use silver.
