All the time? No. But when it is a cop and he is looking after your safety as well as his own? Yes. Let the cop figure out what has happened and go from there. If the cop doesn't back off then you can get mad. Gates is not a street thug and should have had the presence of mind to know why the cop was there or at least to ask. Then he would have understood why the cop was just trying to do his job. If the cop hadn't done anything and someone was in his house and a subsequent crime happened, Crowely would have been blamed for that. I am not attacking Obama but he should have stayed out of it. It isn't his area to worry about. He at least should have gotten all the facts before making comment as the leader of our country. You or I wouldn't like the president of the US calling our actions stupid knowing he didn't have all the facts and then saying that blacks and hispanics are always getting hassled by cops. That can be construed as a racist statement in itself. Presidents should not be making those kinds of statements. Let the racists do it.
