I get a kick out of legislators telling us that a weapons permit is going to make us unsafe. Because you know, all criminals all go and get a permit to carry before they start doing armed robberies. The only people who get hurt by this kind of crap are the very ones who are following the law. Criminals by their very nature could care less if they passed 200 laws prohibiting the very ownership of a gun, they will get and use them anyway. These limp wristed politicians write and pass these laws to impress these groups that are howling for them even though, in my opinion, they are violations of the Constitution just so they can get face time on TV "standing up for the little guy". Sheer lunacy, but we keep sending the same ass backward people back to congress every two years and wonder why nothing changes.
If you can somewhat standardize the permit requirements, why can't you carry accross states lines. Alot of states already recognize out of state carry permits. Why not formalize it for all states that allow permits and be done with it? Who are the pols trying to protect, the criminals who could be shot if they try to rob the little old lady that happens to have a .38 snub nose in her pocket? No common sense in DC, none at all.
Remember this, most governments who want to take total control usually take the guns first.
