Hey guys...it's not all bad with being a contractor in the sat business. I started out with Direct, got stiffed pretty hard a couple times by a couple contractors who know longer work with Direct anymore, except for what retails they can get. Now I work exclusively with Dish and the contractor I run through takes good care of me. And I take care of him, actually there are 5 others on my team, so we all take care of him....make him look good.....and we get paid well. After expenses (fuel, equipment, etc.), I generally clear over a grand a week. And all my expenses are write-offs on my taxes (my lady works Jackson Hewitt during tax season)......not too shabby, considering. 90 percent of my jobs are so easy, I can't believe I'm getting paid for it.....that 10 percent that tends to challenge me....shit, gotta earn my money someway!!! Anyhow....I love this job.....wished I had found out about it years ago!!! I say go for it.....just research the contractor you're running through.
