I'm impressed with the number of responses received to my original inquiry - thank you!!! To answer some points that were made. The employer that I'm with currently decides whether or not 500 line will be used regardless if there's a transformer at the bump pole. The answer I get most of the time is the system won't support the redesign which basically means this one customer is not worth the extra time and hardware to redesign the system for revenue that may or may not be with us long enough to recoup our expenses. I have done enough 400 ft to 500 ft drops to know that this or any other job is not worth sacrificing my back over it, hence the block, tackle and pork chop. I'm grateful for all your responses.
