Not just in cable/sat either:

I became MSCE. Now, companies are trying to use the "slow economy" to justify lower piece rates. I respond with the same line every time. "If you wish to pay a lower rate, find a lower quality tech. If you wish the job to be done right the first time with 100% end user satisfaction, pay my rate." 3 out of 4 will quit bitching and pay me. I go out and fix the other 25%.

Stick to  your guns bro's, they'll pay one way or t'other.
