Its bit hurts but the only people that have ever died have been the very young, the very old, and people that are allergic to bees. In the last 30 years there has not been one fatality from a Black Widow. The Brown Recluse spider is much worse its venom destroys tissue, gives you big ulcers at the bite that are almost impossible to stop. Are you working in NC? I worked there back in 99 and it seemed every ped had a Black Widow or two living in it. Shame about Steve McNair though.
