When is this finally going be put to rest. Slavery was legal just about world over when this country was founded. Tribal leaders in Africa were in full cooperation in most instances with the slave traders. The world changed and slavery was stopped with the spilling of blood by many people who never owned a slave. Do they get a part of the reperation for being killed or maimed to stand up for the blacks?
If you give reperations to one group, under the equal protection clause, the Irish, Italians, Germanys, hell everyone who did not come over on the Mayflower should start lining up. What was affirmative action about? How is anyone today going to say everyone doesn't have a chance to make it if they work for it?
This is nothing more than political pandering for votes. I also find it funny that all of these democrats are speaking ill of the mean racist republicans when it is fact that republicans wrote and passed the Civil rights act of 1964 over the loud objections of southern democrats. But that is history unflattering to the left, and is not to be discussed.
