But this is only an incramental step. Eventually if this is not contested, they will put up cameras in areas the powers that be consider dangerous, and then everywhere so we can "protect you". These cameras have little to do with public safety and everything to do with money. The state and municipality each make money on every ticket, the politically connected company that made the systems and the one that maintains it makes money. This is just another tax on a road you paid for with taxes driving a car you paid sales tax and license taxes on while using your drivers license you paid taxes for. Hell you even paid taxes to buy the machine. Where does it end?

For decades, for a traffic or moving violation to be written, a cop had to witness it, with this they just look at a photo. If the machine is mis calibrated of has an electrical fault, how do you know it and more importantly fix it? I am sure the state will let you know if they find a problem and give you back your money, right.

And I am sure these cameras have accomplished little to slow down speed
