But there is a problem. Medicare typically pays 80% of what private insurance currently pays. There are numerous doctors and some hospitals that don't accept medicare now because revenues don't cover costs. Just because the government is the insurer, there is no guarentee that the doctor will take it. And if they take over all of it, there will be less doctors and hospitals. This is why this is not a no debate ram it through issue. Be careful what you wish for.
