You are not customers so Direct TV won't give a rats arse. They even screw their own customers around as well..
Bottom line is nobody but you and I give a sh!+. It all works like this....the industry pays less because they know it will attract morons who don't know a vice grip from a hammer to eff up the work enough so that their "free install" truly is a free install on all ends. Does anybody in their right mind think that in today's economy that any big corporation is going to give anything away ??? If your lucky you walk away with $100 before expenses after you do work for somebody else and provide the cable, fittings, etc, so that their product works ??/ PLEASE.
Since you all get screwed for the most part I think you dish monkeys should unite for one or two days and decide those 2 days will be a loss. What you do is take your route and show up at each customers home and have them sign the work order when you arrive ( tell them "sign here so we can get started") then proceed to leave the dish unmounted on their roof, place all the set top boxes by the tv's, plug in the boxes with the provided power cords and leave. Now when the customer asks you "aren't you going to run cable ??? respond by saying "oh, the company does not supply cable to connect the boxes, bolts or pads or silicone to mount the dish, diplexers, fittings,etc" and leave.
Do that with your entire route and just imagine the phones ringing in dish offices all over the planet non stop. It'll be the day the satellite industry stood still.
