Even if I belived in "limited" socialism, which I don't, there is a big problem with it here. Look at the clowns currntly in power and ask yourself, should they have one additional ounce of power bestowed upon them. They have not done anythng in an efficent or , in my opinion, common sense fashion. Quite the contrary. The main figures in congress who WROTE the laws that allowed us to get into this crisis are now the ones telling us they are going to swoop in and save us. It is madness.
So why would anyone have to deal with these idiots more than they already do. Do you really believe the decline of manufacturing was not aided by these geniuses. I assure you it was, with convoluted tax laws, ridiculous rules and regulations and a never ending will to give their freinds breaks others could not get. And go and look at the people who yelled the loudest. Guarantee you they are invested or own foreign manufacturing companies. And listen to what they are saying. They are telling us we are a consumer ecomomy. Just keep spending. But where does most of that money for goods we are buying going. Overseas to China and Taiwan.
And remember, they are spending our money to do all of this crap. All of these 'programs' are paid for by our tax dollars. And please, I know I have said this before, don't tell me just tax business and the rich. I doesn't work. The "rich" tend to be business owners. And businesses never pay taxes, period. All businesses pass their tax burden on to the end consumer, raise taxes and they raise their prices.
You also do realize that most europeans do not have the lifestyle we have here in the US. The tax burden is so high that they do not have the disposable income that we usually have. Little side note, did you see the trial ballon sent up by Obama about the national sales tax. He would put on a US sales tax of 20% on everything you buy, good or service. It would DOUBLE the tax burden on everyone here. ( so much for free anything Huh ). Most homes in France are not air conditioned for example. Remember not so long ago they had a heat wave and thousands of older people died. Because it was August, France has th month off. The government had to go to court to get the grave diggers to come back to work early. It is readily available on the net if you want to look for yourself.
And with the lawyers in our society, do really believe we can changed to that degree and not be sued to death. Why not fix the lawyers and keep our current sytem?
The government could fix most of this problem relativly quickly. Pass the fair tax and repeal the 25th amendment. I am not going to detail it out again, look it up and read it for yourself and tell me why it is wrong. Then shrink the federaql government to its CONSTITUTIONALLY dictated size. Let the states exersise their rights. If your state wants to tax and spend too much, you have the ability to move to another state. What do you do if it is the federals govermnet, leave the country. It is not what the framers intended. The states were top dog in their eyes, not the federal government. Read the Constitution and tell met that one is wrong either. Last thing to fix it is to vote. Every election, every eligable man and women. If we don't take control of our elected officals, we will never move forward.
