when I started I had just completed my service for Uncle Sam's Canoe Club in'80 and we split .025/per foot as a cable crew.  The lineman each got $.01 and as the "Grunt" I got the half penny.
Later on I went splicing at $.03 per foot and $3.00 for taps.
Much later on I went sweeping at $.05
In 2000 I was a sub-contractor sweeping for RCN in Queens, New York at $.26 per foot for sweep, $.10 per foot for activation and $60.00/$75.00 per hour for Coax trouble-shooting and fiber trouble-shooting.  Pricing sure did change and it is still changing but going the other way.
