TV i agree. However, if you well diversify yourself in other areas youll be just fine. You need to keep learning and moving up. Find the way to get the bigger projects youll do just fine. Honistly its like any other industry. Rates might go up in other industries but still never enough. We have a major eco problem.
You just need to stay above the curve. Not everyone knows how to be a CEO therefore nobody can do it. I read a post awhile ago stating find out who the person you plan to work for, and find out who they work for and get their contact and keep working till you get directv. I agree to a point on this. However its not always best to deal with directv or dish directly. Now you don't want to be contractor of a contractor of a contractor. This just makes no sence. To go directv distributer to company to you. Thats not so bad. But to go further down the line then that you will get screwed.
I don't do directv nor support them in anyway. This was simply a sample of the downline you may see. Again I don't think its bad to have a little space in between directv or dish to add a coushion and not their bull. Sometimes you can find a company that will pay you if a company doesnt pay them. Again they might pay you less, but its added protection.
So I wouldn't say quit I'd say diversify yourself. There are alot of options in satellite. Become an expert in the field and not just a professional. That goes for any field. I have alot of passion for the satellite field and people know this. Do I do TV satellites? Very few. I don't make alot of money on those. In matter of fact I really don't even advertise it. I have other stuff I work on that deals with satellite.
One area alot of people don't realize is satellites are used for redundency in networks. If you can get a few of these types of jobs 1 let me know and 2 should make good money from it.
