you can take the ring and slide it on first then if the center of the fitting is lined up correctly with the di-electric foam surrounding the center conductor it should slide on with ease if not spit and spin it (SNS) but seriously if its not lined up right it will be a problem. but CARPAL-tunnel?? really?!? you should try it in 10 below 28' up with 20 mile an hour gusts in the dark in a blizzard. and we do all this so the sub can watch oprah?
