All of this stuff was feel good crap at times of crisis which turns into a money pit ( kinda sounds like who Obama is trying to get health care done isn't it )
They use the interstate commerce clause to pass all of this garbage. Can someone explain to me why we need the department of education to tax our local citizens, collect the money and then send it back to the state who then distributes it back to the school district for it to be used? And it only costs about 26 billion to run the admin side of the department, what a deal. Why can the state not raise the taxes, and of course the US cut its taxes to reflect no longer funding schools, to fund the schools and eliminate the Dept of Ed all together.
This kind of sillyness goes on all over. Money goes to Washington to be laundered. It is next to impossible to follow all of the money that goes through DC. This give the politicians cover for what they are doing, gives the feds more power because they have the money and sets up the crazy sight of listening to congressmen thumping on their chest telling us how they brought home money from DC that was ours to begin with. But the funniest part of it all is that the vast majority of states get back almost exactly what they put in. We just get a whole bunch of overhead costs from the federal government.
In my opinion your largest tax bill should be from your township or county. They provide you with the vast majority of the government services you receive. So if what they are doing is so vital, the local pols should have no problem taxing you for it. The higher up the chain the tax, the more potential for abuse.
