I have been in the cable industry for over 20 years and have been from the head end to the television set and every where in between. I started as an installer then started hanging fiber before there was a such thing as the internet, yet alone v.o.i.p. I have been in the desert working in 100 plus degree weather and wadded waist deep in icy water. I can swap a J lasher over an amp on my hooks on a 90 pole, and have installed snow shoes without a ladder or a bucket. Spent months living in my bucket truck while doing storm damage because there was no else to sleep. (And loved every minute of it)
I have started a home improvement company and have been out of the industry for a little more than 3 years and have been thinking of putting my hooks back on, so I have been checking out the Cabl Bar lately to see what is going on.
I was shocked, all I see are whiners and complainers. Is there a such thing as a sober lineman any more?
I now understand why just about every ad posting for work includes "Drunks, Druggies and whiners need not apply"
I would love to get back in the industry and work with a bunch of real "team players", but I guess I will have to stick to fixing up houses.
Is It Really That Bad???
