Do you actually think China was ever the US's friend? They bought up all of our debt over the years to gain an advantage for themselves and now see an opportunity to use it. The only tight rope they are walking now is getting there money they spent buying the t bills in the first place. They could dump them all and completely stop buying them at the drop of a hat. If you think the mess we are going through now is bad, see what happens if China does that. China wants to be a 'super power' and is not afraid of destroying the rest of the world to get there.
This is one of the big reasons all of this spending has to stop. This 1.9 trillion in debt the idiots in DC want, all of the deficit is financed through t bills. The chinese are the known largest buyer of them. They in all truthfulness control our economy fir as long as we are deficit spending. All of the liberals can howl and scream that this was all Bush's fault Clinton fixed it. I will even agree that Bush spent way to much. But why is Obama epanding on it. Bush's last deficit was 500 to 600 billion. So Obama's deficit elimination program is to run 2 years of trillion dollar plus deficits and hope to be back at where the deficits where at when he became president in 10 years. It is lunacy.
If the country was flush with cash and running smoothly, adding new programs ie healthcare, can be reasonably looked at. When you are standing on the edge of the abyss, in my opinion, is not the time to spend 50 percent more than you make. And to make it worse, by borrowing the money from a loan shark aka China.
