As for servce, no it does not compare to pots. But as far as price goes you are not going to find a better deal out there. I too have been able to back feed it over the home wiring using four jacks. It will not work with the old ringers, but does fine with the newer ones. I have it plugged into my main computer, which is on when I am home, off when away and asleep, so I really don't miss calls.
