Not that the 'Tech Gods' would admit it, but YES...you can get a residual reflection off of a body of water (if pointing in that direction within 120 deg) that will confuse some meter's readings...Especially Baddogs! If you check your Lyngsat or SatcoDX listings closely you will find the reason 'Dogs list dish heads differently: some slots have multiple birds with the same designation, but operate on slightly different freq's...more prominent for DNet, but also applicable to some DTV's. We all know that the tick marks on the dishes are suggestions at best (ergo the silly 'dithering' process), but don't forget the 'lowest bidder' supplier of receive horns (heads) makes for uneven pointing as well. Every time either one of them "Updates" the install/signal process, it involves tolerating new designs that are rarely field-tested enough to keep us working efficiently...usually WE are the Beta testers!
I don't feel the 'SuperBuddy' is neccessarily the end-all answer, but the DNS DOES, and so they will eventually force you to dump the 'Dog' and spend more frivolous money to keep your penny-ante job with them in the near future...DNet already is demanding it...until their next 'bright idea' to shaft us. You just have to bear in mind that until you get fed up with the politics, the job is always a learning process...and we appreciate the sharing!
