Re: Next time we ask for help be careful we might

One of the things about socialized medicine in the UK  and Canada the media does not tell you about is they have 'tests' they use to determine if you get care or not. They look at your age, have you lived a long life already. They also look at the disease you have and the liklyhood of surviving it. If it is an advanced cancer say, they will make you comfortable, but will not spend a whole bumch of money if the odds are against you being cured. Lastly, they look to see if you are still working and paying taxes, if you are not paying taxes, your treatment will be delayed if not denied.

Try any of these tactics here and see how many lawyers line up to sue. This is one of the reasons I find it hard to believe any of the cost estimates the pols in DC give out. They are using the UK and Canadian system as a model but can't use it because no one here would put up with these conditions on treatment plus in the UK you can wait for over a year for elective or specialist treatments. This program is going to be a money black hole if it is let out.

And if you want to argue the point, medicare is a government run medical program for a small fraction of the population, not all of it. Is it well run? Why does anyone believe that if we let DC run the entire healthcare system they will do a better job with less waste and for less money?
