Independent contractors have less rights. You can't get fired, they just quit "using you". You can make more money, but it doesn't mean you can work when you want, or half the time. Not when there's other independents out there willing to work harder than you. Why pay 2 subs when 1 of them is willing to work twice as hard? It raises the bar for the other guy who wants to spend half his day following his cheating wife or girlfriend around instead of working. (I see it all the time!) For every 5 independent contractors, maybe one will be worth keeping around permanently in this business.
