Sdelnay...Oil and gas pays very well..if you have never done it, gas would be a better fit for you..you will have to OQ qualified by each gas company you work for..every test is different and very hard..fusion certification for plastic gas mains and services..trench safety certified and OSHA is always around..you will  work on plastic, cast Iron and steel mains and services..have to be qualified for all three, although cast is old pipe, not being used now, you will still have to know it.
A good start up company with excellent training for you would be A&L Underground Inc. out of Overland Park Ks., they also do overseas work. Been in business a long time and a very stable company.
