I was an electrician apprentrice back in 1998 for about 4 months. I was making $15.75 an hour starting out, I would bring home about $530 a week. I was on a job building the VA hospital here in Memphis. I didn't like any part of this job, not one. What I did find out was after 3 years building the VA hospital, my hourly wage would drop to $13.00, due to the next job not being a prevailing wage. That's a kick in the nutts I would think. I quickly got out of that industry. I am not saying that an electrician is not a good lively hood, but it's a meager one at best. If you like $500 a week for a wage, than go for it.
