  I was just thinking a similar thought.  Only the thought was why are only the satellite installers being exploited and abused.  There might be less work for everybody but only the sat-tv guys are in the pit.
 I would go inhouse, either sat or catv.  Catv in this area seems to be a better deal.  Fair wage, work, but no union.

 The best deal if you re just starting out is to get into a Union apprenticeship.  Hourly wage starts at $14, at the end more than double.  Electricians, Plumbers, Elevators all have this deal. Do a search.
