Re: install satellite or cable

Don't waste your time with either, get out while you can, its going down hill fast.  example below:

You work 6 days a week for on average of $55/10 for a DirecTV install ( slightly higher for dish)
You get maybe 2 installs and 2 service calls or upgrades ( they pay about $25 )
You have to buy your own materials (cable, fittings, grounding supplies etc)
DTV wants you to use solid copper, about $60+ for 1000 ft, and they only want you to use a ground block that now cost close to $3.

So you make on average, $150 a day if your lucky after materials ( not including gas)

...Now you get your paycheck close to a month later, and see the $400 in charge backs for trouble calls, lost equipment, or just because the HSP needed some extra cash...

I may sound a bit harsh, but in a nut shell, thats what happens to 90% of contract techs these days...

I got out, put up my tools, and moved to a different industry.
Never argue with idiots, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
