Re: The Silver Screw

Congress can start to improve the country by following the Constitution as written, not as they interpret it. They can do as the 10th amendment says and leave ALL powers not granted to congress and not prohibited to the states, to the states or the people.

They can govern as we all have to live, within their budget. Most states have a balanced budget clause in their constitutions and they have to live with it. Why is congress any different?

They can remove all of the beauracricies they have created to hover over the states. Take the dept of education. What, in the Constitution, gives the authority to congress to regulate education in the states? Nothing, it does not exist, but the department of education does. It is a states right to educate and fund education as they see fit.

They can back up off of the one world government idea. We are a sovereign nation and should behave as such. And tell me there is no such thing afoot, go ahead try to honestly say the US government is not trying to nudge us there. Remember hearing we should take other countries laws into consideration in Supreme Court cases. Google it, it is there.

Scrap the current tax code. Do you realize there are 4 times as many words in the tax code as War and Peace. And it is so difficult to understand, even the guy who is in charge of writing it, Charlie Rangel, can't keep it straight and the treasury dept head Tim Geithner can't either. Now, all kidding aside, what is efficent or right about the current code. Flat tax or national sales tax and repeal of the 16th amendment needs to be done. Both are introduced every congress and go nowhere. Why you ask. Because it would decrease the power of the government and congress in particular because you could not twist it like a pretzel to give favorites to your butt buddies under either system.

Close the borders now. We still have to deal with those who are here now, and that will not be easy. But why are we not doing everything and anything possible to keep it from getting any worse? Start slamming fibes on companies who are hiring illegals? Why are we not charging illegals with fake documents with forgery and counterfeiting. Yes counterfeiting, it is for forging ANY government document including drivers licenses and social security cards.

Term limits. Why is it required that the president can only serve fot 8 years, but congress can serve forever? Why is congress better than the president? Congress was never intended to be a carrer path. It is an honor to serve in the US Hosue or Senate, not a right. Things never change because congress never changes. The average length of service in the House at the beginning of the Congress was about 10 years (5.1 terms); in the Senate, 12.8 years (slightly over two terms). Representative John Dingell (D-MI), the dean of the House, has the longest consecutive service of any Member of the 110th Congress (52 years). 5 decades. No one thinks things may have changed in that time? No one else deserves to have a chance to serve because any on of the current congressman wants to keep a seat for his or herself for over half a centry? I would be content with three terms in the house and 2 in the senate. If you go from one to the next, that is 18 years. That is long enough.

Once you serve in the government as an elected official, you cannot come back and lobby it, period. Do I really need to go any further.

I could keep going, but his is getting long. And everything here is happening because of an act passed by congress and signed into law by a president except for term limits. This why we need to take a hard look at all of them, and most if not all of them need to go.
