Actually the losses for fused disc and MC2 are quite similar, they both share the same type dielectric which is air separated by discs. MC2 was developed to solve some of the problems that fused disc had. I believe Trilogy, *the original maker of MC2, was once General Cable, (the maker of fused disc) or something like that. *MC2 is now made by Commscope.
