The Book is about our diminishing role as the world's lone super power. We are strong (military-politics), but not as strong as we once were (education-innovation) and getting weaker all the time as we (Americans) fall behind the world in such areas as math, science, technology, and industry. It also goes on to describe our major competitors, the up and comers, China and India, and their role in the world today as well as a warning for what we can both expect from them and need to guard against as the future plays out.
