Yes the FDIC would have paid, but that would have gone directly to the account holder, not the bank. As it stands now, the government is a shareholder of these banks. They have all of the rights of a stock holder. They made GM's ceo resign. Do you really want the pols running real businesses? They cannot efficiently run the government bureaucracies they made very well and now they want to tinker with the rest of the world. It is shear insanity
