Was back in a nasty easement, in Milford, on an old rotten pole, getting ready to come down, bringing belt around to left D ring when my right gaff took a chunk of pole out, throwing me backwards. Paramedics thought I was punctured from the chain link fence, but after examining my hoody and shirt, it appears one of the .540 pin connectors I had in my diddy bag stabbed me. Holes were about that size and if it had been the fence it would have been more of a tear. So, all in all, I'd say the cause was carelessness on my part. Was tired and wanting to get it done and get out. Still had 6 sticks to hit and I had been rolling since 10:30 the night before. Stupidity would probably be the best word to sum it up.
