Depends, if he has dependents he can actually end up getting $$ back, of course depending on what he makes and how many etc.
The key is deduct EVERYTHING, according to our tax lady all back charges, tool charges etc are deductible plus milage as well, I think the 2008 milage rate was .55/mi which if you drive 100-150 miles a day like my husband it comes to be a HUGE deduction.
