But do yourself a favor, look at the sales tax. It will be a little harder to do, but in my opinion has some side benifits to it.
The national sales tax will be a federal sales tax of appx 23% on NEW goods. Buy a used home or car pay no tax. Save your money, pay no tax. You would take home your entire check each week, no fed witholding.
Now some of the benifits. Under this plan businesses will pay no taxes. Before your head explodes, understand that no business really pays taxes. You pay them for them when you buy their product or service. When any business decides how much to charge for the items, they add up all of the costs including the taxes they had to pay, add on some profit and that is what you pay. If you take out all of the taxes added into the cost of anything you would buy, the average cost would drop, are you ready, 20 to 25 percent. The goods and services would be about the same cost, but you took home your entire check, no fed taxes, of any kind including social security. You would also get a monthly check from the government to rebate some of the sales tax you would have to spend on necessities of life. Great part of that is no ss number no check.
If you are a business, especially a larger business, why would you not want to be in a zero tax enviorment? How many companies would again call the US home again for that reason alone?
No more IRS or tax returns. You pay at the register when you buy. No more "under the table employment". If you spend your money, you will pay taxes. Cheating will be very difficult. Even small companies will have to justify what they bought in product as opposed to what they collected in sales tax. Hard to hide now. Everyone, including illegals will be paying tax. Everyone needs to eat.
Now the hard parts. This will require a constitutional amendment to repeal the 16th amendment, which authorized the income tax. This would not work if our esteemed members of congress could ever again collect income taxes. The repeal would make sure it was one or the other, not both.
I do not want to make this post long winded. Read Forbes book on the flat tax, and Bortz and Rep. Linder's book on the sales tax. There is plenty on the web also. Make an informed decision and lets start to take control of our country away from those who are so far out of touch it is scary.
