After all the answers given my only question is WTF ARE YOU DOING OUT IN THE FIELD W/O THE PROPER TRAINING. Shame on your prime. Hooking up a home with an alarm system is a no brainer. Essentially you are performing a trunk replacement and must do so at the point of insertion, ie; the demarcation point. Alarm must be able to seize the phone line in case of emergency. Thats why it throws out fault codes if anything is before it except the incoming service.
This is why 5 years ago a sub got paid $100 + to do a voice upgrade, and today it's more like $30 if your are lucky.
