you always learn more by doing but thats not the point.... the point of a course is to give you a foundation of knowledge as well as to show an employer that you can start study and finish a project.. so take as many as you can afford or get paid to take ...

i am a NCTI master tech... and when it came time for my company to promote that was the difference that counted.
good luck study hard in the long run you'll be happy with the results...
