Don't get me wrong, I have a hard time trusting any politician. But the proposed tax is on cigarettes, and people below and above the 250k income mark both smoke. This is not an income tax, it's a tax on cigarettes pure and simple. Cigarettes are responsible for all sorts of illness that in a lot of cases medicaid and medicare have to cover the treatment for said illnesses which our taxes have to cover. The idiot who wrote that paragraph is putting a sideways spin on the situation by claiming that it's low income and minorities who are the majority of cigarette smokers out there hence the low income families are having their taxes raised contrary to what Obama promised. Don't want to pay more taxes for cigarettes, then don't smoke. You'll save $$$$ and your health to boot.
Me, I smoke cigars. If they run up the price so that they cost more then it's an incentive for me to quit, and then they don't get any tax from me at all.
