If that is the way that you were trained, than it must be the correct way. As far as the 30 inch rule goes, I would cut you some slack if you put them at 30 inches. Just to put the scale of you picture into perspective. Measure the distance between the ladder rungs (1 inch = 1 foot) and now match that with the distance of your span clamps. If that’s even close to 30 inches, I’ll send you a case of beer.

“The QC lineman thought it was perfect”. That just tells me that this lineman has never hung a drop. I’m glad to hear you made good money on that job. See I do have a sense of humor, I’m still laughing at that. What were you making, $15 to $18 a drop? That’s what I was making back in 1985 when I started in this business. After your expenses, your ground hand’s cut, and taxes, you must have gone on a nice vacation.
