Has anyone installed a SMATV headend with DVR's? I came across one last week, and all of the DVR's are installed vertically instead of horizontally. There was absolutely no spacing between them to allow for heat dissipation. I was concerned that the DVR's would overheat and possibly suffer damage to the hard drives.
The reasoning behind it was that the company wanted to offer a one receiver per TV option to the end-user, but the receiver couldn't be located near the television for two reasons. First, the TV's are bed side in a dialisys clinic, and second, because the TV's are powered with 12VDC via the coax, so no sat signal could be transmitted.
Also, what could be used to extend the range of an RF remote (not using IR extenders). The RF remotes are from DTV, and they are working about 70-80% of the time, but the distance is 100 feet. Would a generic RF repeater work? Does anyone know of the frequency range for these DTV remotes? Thanks in advance.
