Microsoft Visio is very easy to use.  Microsoft has a free trial of its 2007 version on the Microsoft Office website.  I believe it is either 60 or 90 days.  Everything that is Visio 2003 or higher is compatible.  You can also save files as Autocad drawings, but they don't always come up as legible--some symbols don't carry over.  Free-that is about as cheap as you can get.  The only thing I couldn't figure out after my trial was up was how to get it again using a different email address.  Since it is Microsoft I'm sure they can track what computer it was on.  If you can get your hands on a copy of Visio 2003 is is just about the same.  That is what I have now for anything that needs simple drawings.  Also--there is another program called Canvas which is similar.  It is also very simple to use.  I don't know where you would get that one though.  I have my copy from a former engineering job.  Hope that helps.
