The whole sub prime mortgage problem lays solely at the feet of the government. They threatened to reregulate all of banking if the banks did not lighten up and give more loans to people with questionable ability to repay. Dems, Frank and Schumer leading the way, wanted the ability to say see, we Democrats ( with a Democrat in the White House ) helped the little guy get a piece of the American dream. And just like every other time congress puts its nose into something it has no clue about, they botched it. And now the solution to a situation primarily caused by their meddling in housing is a stimulus package that does little to nothing to fix housing. Genius, simply genius.
