Yes I spoke with one of the women here in the local CV office and she told me they are cutting prices yet again and I made the right move by getting out last year.

And again it is illegal to deduct any monies from an employees pay except the standard tax, health, UI, SS, which are a given. Others such as hand tools, uniforms, 401k, etc. must be agreed to and signed for by said employee prior to any such deductions. The only thing an employee would not sign for would be court awarded garnishments for various reasons.

If an employee screws up you can fire them but you still must pay them what is owed. In some states triple damages can be awarded for non payment of an employee. Remember The division of labor standards is who you contact if you don't get your pay in full from any employer if you are an employee.
