thanks Sab ya reminded me of something that happened to me years ago and how it made me feel.
I was waiting in a Texas airport on a flight back to San Francisco.
the flights were all messed up, delayed, overbooked, etc. for some reason my flight was on time and my seat secure.
I was sittin' close enough to the check in counter to hear the sh*t that people from delayed flights were givin' the poor woman
workin' the counter. I overheard one elderly women (distress in her voice) as she was told her flight was delayed and she was being placed on a later flight to Oakland. my sister will be waiting in San Francisco, how will I get there to meet her, she'll be waiting all night, I don't know my way around California, and so forth. I stepped up to the ticket counter with an excuse me. I could see the look in the airline worker's eyes (oh great what's this guy's b*tch). I'm on the next flight to Frisco, she can have my ticket, I'll wait for another flight. they couldn't believe it, the woman couldn't stop thankin' me and the counter woman got a look in her eye like you wouldn't believe. the woman got on the plane and I waited in the airport for several more hours. when things calmed down I had a chance to talk with the counter woman, she told me how my actions made the rest of her shift a little more bearable. she must have told her co workers the story 'cause I got a bunch of thank yous from airport workers. I also got a first class ticket to Oakland, where I was headin' any way along with a 500 dollar flight voucher, the latter of which I never used. it just didn't feel right. did I mention all this took place on the day before Thanksgiving.
remember,
it's nice to be nice.
