The best advice I can give you is since you are a little guy (I assume) and you cant take a loss if you run into problems bid it this way. Figure out what you need to make per hr and bid it to him for time and materials. This way you report your time to him and give recepts to be re-imbursed for the materials. you can loose and he a fair price for the work that is required.
